Evolution London, a purpose-built event space nestled within the grounds of Battersea Park, serves as a versatile venue for a wide array of events, including corporate functions, conferences, exhibitions, and activations, many of which feature live and recorded amplified music.Constructed with modular paneling over a steel frame and roofed with plasticized PVC, the venue’s lightweight design offers limited sound insulation. As a result, stringent controls are necessary to manage amplified sound effectively.
To ensure both compliance with local authority noise regulations and an optimal acoustic experience for attendees, Noisy conducted a comprehensive sound propagation assessment. This analysis evaluated the relationship between the venue’s sound output and the nearest receptors—local residents’ properties. By establishing critical source limits, this assessment provided guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.
Noisy has now installed its state-of-the-art noise monitoring system to provide Evolution London with the tools needed to proactively ensure compliance with these critical source limits, whilst maximising the acoustic capacity of the venue.
Noisy have helped tremendously to track our sound levels and support us in delivering more inclusive events that help us work well with our neighbours.
Luke Heydenrych, Operations Director at Evolution London
Noisy is a fully reconfigurable monitoring system designed to simultaneously track multiple sound sources, offering real-time visibility of source levels at both Front of House (FoH) and Side of House (SoH) positions for use by sound engineers. Additionally, all sound sources are displayed at a central monitoring point, ensuring continuous and effortless compliance with critical source limits.
Given that many local authority regulations enforce different noise limits for day and night, Noisy’s ability to configure multiple limit levels for different times of day is invaluable. This feature is particularly utilized at Evolution London to seamlessly adhere to pre- and post-11 p.m. sound restrictions.
A key advantage of the Noisy system is its flexibility in monitoring locations. With no practical constraints on the distance between sound level meters and monitoring stations, sound sources can be measured and monitored anywhere. This adaptability is crucial at Evolution London, where varying event layouts and FoH positions require versatile monitoring solutions. The sound level meter can be permanently installed at a representative location above the venue’s false ceiling, while a wirelessly connected portable Noisy tablet display can be deployed at the FoH or SoH as needed. Additional Noisy tablet displays are wall-mounted in the event management and sound production offices, all integrated over the venue-managed network. This multi-user access is a significant improvement over traditional sound level meter systems.
The Noisy solution offers the venue operator a much higher level of confidence in maintaining regulatory compliance, while fully optimizing the venue's acoustic capabilities. This system provides a far superior approach compared to the traditional spot-check auditing method, ensuring that Evolution London maintains a consistent, traceable environmental noise impact that meets all regulatory requirements.
